Früh übt sich und so hat auch die aufstrebende norwegische Songwriterin Mimmi Tamba, kurz MIMMI, schon mit 13 Jahren ihr erstes Minialbum aufgenommen, das ihr direkt auch einen Auftritt vor einer Rede von Nelson Mandela einbrachte. Ihr richtiges Debüt erschien dann 2014 und wurde direkt von Lob überhäuft, weshalb die Erwartungen für ihr Zweitwerk Semper Eadem, das am 24. Januar erschienen ist sehr hoch waren. MIMMI beschreibt ihre Musik selbst als Renaissance-, oder auch Barock-Pop. Ob Celli, Posaunen, Cembalos, Trommeln oder schwere Beats, die soulig anmutenden Arrangements ihrer Songs können pompös aber auch minimalistisch und zart sein. Ihre kräftige Stimme ist dabei aber immer präsent, raumausfüllend und facettenreich. MIMMI ist auf der Suche nach den tieferen Emotionen mit einem klaren Blick auf die lyrische Darstellung. Es ist ein Versuch, sich der Komplexität des Menschen zu stellen. “The new album is about breaking away from your own stereotype or the role you’ve chosen or have been assigned. It’s about facing your own hypocrisy, taking the fight and dare to stand your ground. The album is my interpretation of the complexity of the human being. I’ve taken inspiration from Queen Elizabeth I. As a person, the times she inhabited, the costumes and the music have given me inspiration and the space to explore myself both musically and as a human being in a new way. I’ve named the genre Renaissance Pop. Renaissance means rebirth, and that’s what I feel this whole recording has been about”, sagt MIMMI.
Wer MIMMI noch nicht auf dem Schirm hatte, der bekommt heute mit unserer Videopremiere zur Single Money einen ersten Appetithappen – die Norwegerin sagt darüber: „The song money is about the fight against inner and outer demons, and how to break down the walls and showing the finger to the hierarchy. Yes, I know that its hypocritical of me to say fuck you to the hierarchy when I choose to use Queen Elisabeth 1 as my muse for this album. Unfortnantly being human is ambivalent. So the song is about two things at the same time. Two opposite things. I wrote the song in my living room in my mini studio after a day I felt that I was so tired of trying to make the right people listen to my ideas in order to make it as an artist. I hated that I wanted the «kings» approval so much and just wanted to write a song that showed him an invisible fuck you finger. And a song to free myself from wanting it. A song of freedom to people who feel they are trapped in something.“
