Die zweite Single Flags ist die zentrale kreative Zusammenarbeit der Charity-Compilation HELP(2) und vereint Damon Albarn (Gorillaz, Blur), Grian Chatten (Fontaines D.C.) und Kae Tempest in einem eindringlichen Song über Jugend, Identität und Zusammenhalt. Produziert von Albarn, James Ford, Marta Salogni und Toby L, steht der Song für Resilienz und kollektive Stärke. Getragen von einem markanten Piano-Motiv versammelt Flags ein außergewöhnliches Ensemble an Musiker:innen – darunter Johnny Marr, Dave Okumu, Adrian Utley (Portishead), Gorillaz-Bassist Seye Adelekan, Femi Koleoso von Ezra Collectives sowie ein 43-köpfiger Kinderchor. Ergänzt wird das Stück durch einen hochkarätig besetzten zweiten Chor mit u. a. Jarvis Cocker, Carl Barat, Declan McKenna, Marika Hackman, Rosa Walton (Let’s Eat Grandma), English Teacher, Black Country, New Road und Nadia Kadek.
Das neue Charity-Album HELP(2) erscheint am 6. März via War Child Records und knüpft an den legendären Sampler HELP von 1995 an. Sämtliche Erlöse des Albums kommen War Child UK zugute und unterstützen den Einsatz für Schutz, Bildung und die Rechte von Kindern in Konfliktgebieten weltweit. HELP(2) steht für Hoffnung – für Kinder, deren Leben durch Krieg zerstört wurde – und für die Kraft gemeinschaftlichen Handelns. Es ist ein eindrucksvolles Zeichen der Solidarität von Künstlerinnen und Künstlern für eine sicherere, gerechtere Zukunft.

HELP(2) entstand überwiegend während einer intensiven Aufnahme-Woche im November 2025 in den Abbey Road Studios unter der Leitung von Produzent James Ford und vereint ein beeindruckendes Line-up, darunter Anna Calvi, Arctic Monkeys, Arlo Parks, Arooj Aftab, Bat For Lashes, Beabadoobee, Beck, Beth Gibbons, Big Thief, Black Country, New Road, Damon Albarn, Depeche Mode, Ellie Rowsell, English Teacher, Ezra Collective, Foals, Fontaines D.C., Graham Coxon, Greentea Peng, King Krule, Nilüfer Yanya, Olivia Rodrigo, Pulp, Sampha, The Last Dinner Party, Wet Leg und Young Fathers. Spontane Studio-Momente und ungewöhnliche kreative Aufeinandertreffen prägten die Aufnahmen – etwa Johnny Marrs Gitarrenbeitrag zu Flags oder Graham Coxons Mitwirken an Olivia Rodrigos Cover von The Book of Love.
Als Creative Director fungierte der Oscar-prämierte Filmemacher Jonathan Glazer, der gemeinsam mit Mica Levi das Konzept By Children, For Children entwickelte. Kinder filmten selbst während der Studio-Sessions; zusätzlich entstand Filmmaterial aus Konfliktregionen wie der Ukraine, Gaza, Jemen und Sudan – aufgenommen von Kindern vor Ort. So wird der Fokus des Projekts direkt mit denjenigen verbunden, denen es helfen soll.
Die ursprüngliche HELP-Compilation, initiiert von Brian Eno und innerhalb von nur 24 Stunden aufgenommen, gilt bis heute als eines der bedeutendsten Charity-Alben der Musikgeschichte und sammelte über £1,2 Millionen für Kinder im Bosnienkrieg. Während damals rund 10 % der Kinder weltweit von Konflikten betroffen waren, ist es heute nahezu jedes fünfte Kind – rund 520 Millionen. Vor diesem Hintergrund unterstreicht HELP(2) die Dringlichkeit gemeinschaftlichen Handelns.

War Child setzt sich seit über 30 Jahren dafür ein, Kindern in Kriegsgebieten eine sichere Zukunft zu ermöglichen – mit schneller Soforthilfe, langfristiger Unterstützung und Schutzräumen in aktuell 14 Ländern weltweit. HELP(2) knüpft an die kollektive Energie seines Vorgängers an und macht deutlich: Musik kann nicht nur ein kulturelles Statement sein, sondern auch konkrete Hilfe leisten.
Denn kein Kind sollte jemals Teil eines Krieges sein.
